I had a really nice 8 page portfolio published in Australian Black&White magazine.
A simple hand gesture can make a world of difference under the intense scrunity of Martin Wieldraaijer’s camera.
The black- and -white nude genre may sometimes look like simplicity itself- the photographic equivalent to charcoal life drawing, perhaps. In reality, many elements must coalesce- model, location, technique- for the end result to be worthy of regard. Awkwardness, tackiness, and cliché are constant hurdles.
Martin Wieldraaijer constantly achieves fresh and exciting results thanks to a combination of tight cropping, unconventional poses and subjects who are unmistakeably in the moment.
